  2. Consolidating and reaffirming objectives : • Communication Technology often seen as: • Less related • “fluffy”, not linked to health outcomes • The community of practice should be locally dynamic • Foster a critical mass of local practitioners.

Consolidating and reaffirming objectives : • Objectives of the ICT Community: • Cross the bridge between technology and health systems strengthening and health service delivery. • Provide avenues of support and linkages for other communities • COP membership • Should be “bottom heavy” • Should the vision of the COP by bringing together policy makers and others in public health field and those working on the forefront of ICT. • Open and flexible to attract practitioners from a wide range of fields.

  5. Next steps: Strategy for building COP • Use of tools available: website, mail lists, etc. • Supporting the other COPs • Online tools, costing, M&E, Logistics, etc. for health ministries • Presence at conferences, technology workshops, online forums, etc. • Create a “buzz”

  6. Possible Future Endeavors • Involvement and partnership with private sector: • Nokia: Mobile tech. • Google, Econet: GIS, user-created mapping • Cisco: webinars and other communication technology
