Jr. High Activities • Open House • Dances – Homecoming and Valentine’s Day • Games—football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, cross country, track • Washington DC trip in 8th grade • Student of the month • Pride time/Breakfast of champions • Homework help (Mon-Thurs)
Teams • Students are arranged in teams with a similar make-up: • Teams are randomly assigned • Each team will have enriched classes • Each team will have students on Individualized Education Plans
Schedule • There are 8 instructional periods in a schedule and a lunch period • 5 core classes • 3 time slots (class or study hall) • Some courses are one semester and others are year-long
Foreign Language Courses • The class is OPTIONAL • It is a high school level course • Students may study French, Spanish or German* • One semester – 7th grade • The 7th grade course will introduce students to an international language • One year – 8th grade(goes on HS transcript)
Music Courses • Students are required to take at least one semester of a music class (7th or 8th grade) • Band, Strings, and Choir are year-long courses • Bells and Music in Film are semester courses
