  2. INTRODUCTION • District is among 5 district of Manyara Region with a population of 267,061 (2002 census) and it has 36,122 Households, • The District Started implementing CHF on 27th September 2002

Community Sensitization and Advocacy: • Village Councils were invited and sensitized on CHF and assigned to call village assembly on their own Dates and sensitize the community on CHF. • CHMT members to be invited for clarification and elaboration for technical questions paused during the village assembly. • CHF Sensitization in our District as a day to day activities of which Heads of Departments (HOD’s) plays a very big role in their respective wards. • After inauguration of CSHB Chairperson, District Council, one CMT members, Social welfare Committee chairperson and District Legal Officer, went through all 71 villages for CHF emphasis.

  4. COMMUNITY RESPONSE • Community agreed to pay 5,000/= premium per household. • CHF membership contribution Tshs. 44,220,000/ millions. • User fees from non CHF member – Tshs 10,826,203/= • Matching Grant from MOH &SW – Tshs.37, 580,100/= Grand Total – Tshs. 92,625,203/=

  5. User Fees agreed as Follows:- • Tshs. 1000/= per visit at Dispensary, level • Tshs. 1500/= per visit at Health Center Level • At the Hospital, non members depends on the Service rendered.

  6. THE ROLE OF THE COMMUNITY IN FUND RAISING AND MANAGEMENT • Health facility committees and ward Health committees to mobilize financial resources from the community. • Community empowerment in decision making on the use of CHF funds. • Health Facility and Ward Health Committees offers exemption and forward to DHSB for approval.

  7. POLITICAL SUPPORT • Councilors were sensitized and play part in Sensitization & Advocacy.
