  2. S4 Graphic Communication Graphics Folio: 10 elements 2D / 3D Graph Use of colour Use of shading and tone Layout and Lettering DTP Display Modelling Cad Library CAD Ortho / Pictorial Draughtsmanship

  3. S4 Graphic Communication Elements can be placed together. 2D graph – created manually, graph placed on one half of the A3 page with a object rendered which relates to the content of the graph. For example a graph could be based around CD sales with a coloured I – pod or CD player. Once they are both completed they can be mounted on a back ground with title and colour layout. This will cover the following parts of the folio according to the SQA GRC: a, b, c, d, e

S4 Graphic Communication Elements can be placed together. 3D graph – an autocad or publisher created 3d graph, Once again relate the graph to an object which can be created in AutoCAD pictorial view. The graph could be based on the sales of different types of printers with an isometric view of a printer mounted along side it, or used as a library part for the actual graph. Both could be copied and pasted into Publisher allowing the pupil to create a CAG display. This will cover the following parts of the folio according to the SQA GRC: a, e, g

  5. S4 Graphic Communication Elements can be placed together. Manual rendering – choose a simple item which can be rendered to represent the real life object, mounted and create a display. This will cover the following parts of the folio according to the SQA GRC: b, c, d, e Create a planning sheet for the display.

  6. S4 Graphic Communication Elements can be placed together. Cad Library, can either be pictorial or 2D. Using and manipulation of an existing library will provide the candidate a General pass. This will cover the following parts of the folio according to the SQA GRC: h

CAD orthographic – An item which demonstrates the candidates ability to use AutoCAD, every pupil should manage to maintain a General pass given the standard of the teaching notes. There may be a need for an additional piece of work to improve the standard of the colour work depending upon the quality produced to date, this final piece could be laid out to provide back up evidence for the layout and lettering sub element.

  11. S4 Graphic Communication Deadline dates: Graphs and CAD Friday 8th May – Complete Manual created graph including 1 colour work Friday 15th May – Complete computer generated graph Friday 12th June – Complete CAD Orthographic Friday 29th June – Complete Cad Pictorial & library

  12. S4 Graphic Communication Deadline dates: Colour work Friday 28th August – Colour piece 2 completed Friday 11th September – Complete computer generated graph

  13. S4 Graphic Communication Deadline dates: DTP and Model Friday 2nd October – Publisher Completed Friday 6th November – Modelling Complete 9th November – 18th December - Folio Completion and Revision.
