Empowering Northern Leadership: The NLDP Journey and Impact on Aboriginal Communities

The Northern Leadership Development Program (NLDP) aims to empower Aboriginal communities in the Northwest Territories through targeted leadership training and transferable skills development. Since its inception, the program has partnered with diamond mining companies like Diavik to provide opportunities for local residents, ensuring that at least 40% of positions are filled by Aboriginal individuals. With a focus on industry-driven training, the NLDP has contributed significantly to local employment, community development, and the leadership capabilities of Northern residents, fostering sustainable growth and empowerment.
