  2. Sculpture • The Greeks made their sculptures in bronze because bronze is a very solid and strong metal. Since the metal was so strong when they were in battle nobody could brake the sculptures. There was only one big advantage. Since the metal is SO strong when it came to making the really nice statues it took many complication and took a long time to develop a good technique. Bronze is a good metal to put inside hollow feet.

  3. The Greeks started with a basic layout of wood in the shape of the sculpture. Then they would cover the wood with some clay. Once the clay is dry they would put a wax layer on top, and then complete the mold using a hammer and nails. That is only the first part of this project. After everything is dry they would put the mold outside when its really hot and let the wax drip out. That would take about one week. Once all of the wax is totally out they would poor some molten bronze in the space that the was in. They would then put that in a room for another two weeks and wait till the mold cracked off of the metal. Before they continued the Greeks needed to check very carefully if the mold is all off and then see if its sturdy and dry. Once all of those rules are o.k the Greeks would put on swords and shields and all kinds of details like eyes and noses, arms legs and feet etc. Most of the decorations were in wood.
