  1. How to use a Jump* Drive (also known as a Thumb Drives, Static Drives, Pen Drives, Flash Drives, SanDisk or any other USB portable storage device.)

  2. USB Storage Devices • USB storage devices, such as Jump Drives are good storage options because they feature a large amount of data storage for the price. • They are extremely portable (about the size of a key chain) and because there are no moving parts, they are very reliable.

  3. Using a USB Storage Device with your Desktop Computer USB ports located in back of desktop • Locate the USB ports on your desktop computer. Some are located in the back of the machine, while some are in the front. USB ports located in the front of desktop

  4. Using USB Storage Devices • Plug the USB Storage Device into the USB port on the desktop.

  5. USB Storage Devices • Once you plug in the USB storage device, you will see the following dialogue box. Select “Open Folder to view files using Windows Explorer”

  6. Using USB Storage Devices • When selected, the “Removable Disc” Dialogue Box will open showing what is stored on the USB Storage Device. Then open your H: Drive.

  7. Using USB Storage Devices Click on and drag documents from your H: drive dialogue box to the Removable Disk Dialogue Box. Once they are located on the Removable Disk (Jump Drive), you can remove them from your H: Drive.

  8. Using USB Storage Devices with your Laptop • Before you plug in the USB Storage Device into your Laptop, you must pull out the CD Drive. Once the CD Drive is pulled out, the Laptop will recognize the USB Storage Device. • Follow the same procedures described earlier in this tutorial. • Return the CD Drive when your are done
