  12. Goal Create the tools, processes, and resources that make ACT-IAC the “go-to” resource for all knowledge related to improving government through efficient application of Information Technology. With its unique collaboration between Government and industry, ACT-IAC will offer access to knowledge resources and services that are not only relevant, but actionable. ACT-IAC’s IT Modernization Program will provide the tools and resources that enable us to achieve this vision. Advancing Government Through Collaboration, Education and Action

Knowledge Management (KM) defines processes, procedures and tools to develop a comprehensive program for creation, categorization, management, and retrieval of knowledge whether created by ACT-IAC or external to ACT-IAC. Website Modernization provides the underlying infrastructure, technology, workflows, and tools to support the knowledge management objectives, as well as building communities for collaboration and resources for participating in ACT-IAC activities. ACT-IAC Website Modernization Background October 2011 – Internal Technology Committee (ITC) Convened May 2012 – ITC Recommendations to EC in May 2012 July 2012 – JAM sessions conducted to identify requirements September 2012 – Website Modernization RFP Released October 2012 – 13 Proposals Received January 2013 – Contract Awarded to RIVA Solution Advancing Government Through Collaboration, Education and Action

Target Milestones (next six months) January – Kick Off Website Modernization Contract with RIVA – Establish Beta User Group and KM Team (next slide) – Present KM Strategy February – Kickoff KM Team March – Website Public and Member Landing Pages – Identify KM Pilot April/May – Incremental Release of Additional Website Functions June – Improved Event Management Functionality – Launch Full Site with Initial Capabilities – Demonstrate KM Pilot Advancing Government Through Collaboration, Education and Action

Volunteer Opportunities Assemble a Website Beta User Group (BUG) to “Kick the Tires” • Group of volunteers from both Government and industry • Sign up today and take the short survey • Participate in focus groups and surveys Establish Knowledge Management Steering Group • Define the vision, goals, and objectives • Determine requirements pertinent to ACT-IAC members (and non-members) • Develop a realistic timeline for developing the knowledge management services • Coordinate with Website Modernization to ensure tools are developed to support needs Advancing Government Through Collaboration, Education and Action

Many agencies have business problems that require them to answer a set of very basic questions that requires sifting through petabytes of information; • A person of interest (who); • is going to perform (or has performed) an activity (what); • at a given time (when – temporal ); • at a given location (where - geospatial); • for a an unknown reason (why – sentiment/semantic);
