HELIX MIGRATION FEATURES OF THE MCXTRAN DIRECT TRANSLATOR • IT’S FREE!!! • 99% TRANSLATION. • TRANSFERS SINGLE HELIX MODELS TO CCD INTERACTIVELY OR MULTIPLE MODELS IN BATCH. • NO MODEL SIZE LIMITATION. • CCD MODELS WILL REQUIRE 30-50% LESS SPACE. • ONCE THE HELIX MODEL IS CONVERTED TO CCD, CATIA V5 CAN THEN OPEN THE MODEL.

  7. HELIX MIGRATION PACKAGE FILES IN THE PACKAGE: • To get the package go to www.cadam.com. From the MICROCADAM User Center/Helix Migration Package page, download HelixMigrationPkg_0918.exe • The package contains: • The Migration Guide in HTML format • Executables (copy to corresponding CCDraft directory) • Bin\Mcxtranv4.exe (the translator) • Bin\bulkxfer.exe (the batch utility) • Mapping Tables (copy to corresponding CCDraft directory) • Profile\convert\tables\cad8859-1_ucs-2.map • Profile\convert\tables\helix-8859_ucs-2.map

REQUIREMENTS TRANSLATOR REQUIREMENTS • Helix Drafting, Access, the Helix File Server, as well as CCD, must be installed on the PC where the translation will be done. • No additional license is required to run mcxtran. • MCXTRAN must have access to Helix’s Access and the Helix database (mcadam). • Define the environment variable MCXVOL=C:\mcadam • Add to the PATH: C:\Hds\Drafting\Binwin

REQUIREMENTS TRANSLATOR REQUIREMENTS (con’t) • The mcadam directory must be on an NTFS drive. • The drawings must be in a group,user directory structure with the long MC File Name format: • ..12000680816000000680816003333323733363420202020202020202042303034n1 ……vvvv • The BULKXFER utility requires that a group called BULK and a user called XFER be defined. • These are working directories and all files are deleted when done. • There must be enough disk space to accommodate the largest sub-directory to be processed.

  11. REQUIREMENTS TRANSLATOR REQUIREMENTS (con’t) • Windows does not allow special characters in the file name such as asterisks or quotation marks. Two mapping tables are provided in CCD to resolve this problem: C:\CCDraft\Profile\Convert\Tables\name-8859_ucs-2.map C:\CCDraft\Profile\Convert\Tables\ucs-2_name-8859.map • The character mapping will be done on the file name, plot-data’s format overplot name, and the overlay member list.

BATCH PROCESSING BULKXFER • Supports both OS File Name (.MCD) and MC File Name formats. • If processing .MCD files, bulkxfer will first convert these files to models (MC format) into the group,user BULK,XFER. • Processes symbol and font tables (sys,symbol) • Multi-file Helix tables are merged into single-file CCD symbol tables • It creates new symbol table pages • Processes format overplots (sys,format) • Format models are converted to CCD models • Helix format model information is appended to the current CCD format table. This table is then sorted.

  15. HELIX MIGRATION PROCEDURE RECOMMENDED MIGRATION PROCEDURE • Make sure mcxtranv4 is running in the background. • Use bulkxfer to process the symbol, formats and font tables first. • Then, using bulkxfer, transfer each subgroup (user).

  16. INTERACTIVE SETUP DEFINE A CADAM FILE SYSTEM • RUN \CCDraft\cadprof.exe

  17. INTERACTIVE SETUP • START CCD AND SET REMOTE SYSTEM

  18. INTERACTIVE SETUP • CLICK ON REMOTE, THEN FILE OPEN. ENTER GROUP AND PRESS ENTER. SELECT USER AND DOUBLE-CLICK ON HELIX MODEL NAME.

  19. OLDER VERSIONS • MICROCADAM PLUS R14.X MUST BE MIGRATED TO HELIX V4 BEFORE MIGRATING TO CCD. • MIGRATION TOOLS • R14file.exe (calls & refiles all models) • R14 Data Manager Fix Model • Remote Function Key • DMNDOS Export/Import • R14 Server
