Applications of technology & position in radiography

Radiographic positioning refers to the way the body is placed, we call this general body position, or to the part of the body that's closest to the image receptor and we call this specific body position. A specific body position describes the body part closest to the IR or the body surface on which the patient lies. The radiographer works in a highly advanced technical profession that also requires excellent people skills. It is an exciting and rewarding profession to be a part of. Radiology or medical imaging departments are extremely safe places to work and to spend time in. There are state and federal regulations governing safe work practices and radiation safety within all X-ray departments and private imaging clinics. See the presentation to know more about various important positions and techniques used in radiography.

  1. Introduction ● A radiographer or medical imaging technologist is a trained health professional who performs medical imaging by producing high quality X- ray pictures or images which is used to diagnose and treat injury or disease. ● The patient's diagnosis and treatment is dependent on the X-ray images produced, thus, radiography forms an integral part of medical science.

  2. Position in radiography ● Though learning radiography is not rocket science and its intricacies can be learnt through proper training and lectures. ● However, the subject is vast and there is immense scope of learning in this field. ● Right course under right guidance at the right place will carve an effective radiographer out of you.

  3. Position in radiography ● Likelihood of incurring any medical malpractice lawsuit is minimized by the risk management pointers. ● These risk management pointers at the same time maximizes the chances of a successful defence in case of any discrepancy. ● This is essential to boost the trust and confidence of patients who believe that they are being treated well.

  4. Technology in radiography ● Radiographs may not be exposed properly through technique charts or routine phototimer. ● It is the responsibility of the radiologists to use their knowledge and skill to determine whether the radiograph can be properly interpreted or not in case of overexposure. ● These decisions have to made by the radiologists on the basis of image he has received and the situation. In case of any doubt, it's always better to conduct the radiologic examination to assess the diagnostic quality of the image.

  5. Technology in radiography ● If the patient is not in an ideal condition to undergo the complete radiographic examination with all the techniques and positions, the radiologist may ask him to go for a complete examination. ● In case this is not possible, it should be stated in the report that it is incomplete on account of bad condition of patient. If the images were not taken in right amount of light, the issue of overexposure or underexposure may arise. ● In these kind of situations, a repeat image can be requested if patient is available and in case patient is not available, further analysis can be stopped till proper image is obtained. ● An attempt should be made by the radiologists to contact the patient directly and examine the situation.

  6. Who we are ? ● We provide state of the art virtual reality medical simulation suites to enable students to experience hands-on learning encouraging critical thinking ● “The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless,” said Jean-Jacques Rousseau, speaking in the 18th century. Now, as the we have devices for letting imagination into the real world, let’s open new endless education possibilities in our century. ● Virtual Medical Coaching is an education tool provider with a mission to promote medical education and offer advanced training modalities to form lifelong, responsible citizens, committed to excellence of practice and the development of science, technology and innovation, contributing to the improvement of life in society.
