General facts • It’s the biggest city in the United Kingdomand also in Europe. • The city was formed by two cities, City of London and City of Westminster. • 1666 the city burned down because it was built of only wood. • Then they built it in almost only stone and metal • The population was 7,172,036 in 2001 • 130 395 km2

  4. London’s red big busses • They are of the model Routemaster. • Red double-deckers • But most of them has been changed to a new and a more modern model.

  5. The taxies and the drivers • They are of the model Hackney. • When they take the taxi card they have to know the name of every single street in London. • It’s about 25 000 streets.

  7. The red phone boxes • The first phone boxes were first used in London 1903. • The model is called K6. • It was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. • Now, the most of them are of a newer model.
