Ordering and Converting Fractions to Decimals: A Classroom Challenge

In this engaging lesson on September 6, 2013, students will explore the concepts of ordering and converting fractions to decimals. Beginning with a challenge question about the meaning of "cents," students will first evaluate a mathematical expression. They will create a foldable resource for conversions and collaboratively order fractions on a number line. Following a group activity, students will convert given fractions into decimals in their journals. The lesson concludes with an opportunity to share insights on the challenge question.
