  1. Bar Graphs, Histograms, Line Graphs Arizona State Standard – Solve problems by selecting, constructing, interpreting, and calculating with displays of data. S2C1PO1

  2. Objective • I will be able to use a bar graph to represent data. • I will be able to read and construct histograms. • I will be able to use a line graph to represent data.

  3. Bar Graphs • A bar graph uses vertical or horizontal bars to display numerical information. • Bar graphs can be used to compare amounts. • Choose an appropriate scale (with regular intervals). • The bars should have the same width.

  4. 3 Types of Bar GraphsSimple Bar Graph

  5. 3 Types of Bar GraphsDouble Bar Graph

  6. 3 Types of Bar GraphsStacked Bar Graph

  7. Histograms – compare continuous data in intervals • A histogram is a bar graph in which the bars represent equally spacedintervals of numbers (you must decideon your equal intervals). • There are no spaces between the bars on the histogram. • Make a frequency distribution & use the totals to create the histogram

  8. Let’s Practice  • Page 210 • # 1 - 4

  9. HOMEWORK • Page 210 • # 5 - 15

  10. Line Graphs • Line graphs show trends over intervals of time. • Line graphs can have one line or several lines.

  11. 3 Types of Line Graphs: Simple Line Graph

  12. Double Line Graph

  13. Multi-Line Graph
