  2. Snow and Emergency WeatherPolicy & Procedures • Policy has been in existence. It is reviewed and updated annually by key players, about 40 staff members. • Policy applies to UMass Boston harbor campus community, including faculty, staff, students and guests of the University. • Decisions are made by senior administration, the Chancellor or his Chief of Staff or designee, the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and the Vice Chancellor for Administration & Finance.

  3. Snow and Emergency WeatherPolicy & Procedures • The essential factor in the decision is the safety of our commuting faculty, staff, students, and visitors. • The closing of the campus is a procedure that differs depending on the timing of the decision to close and the expected length and severity of the severe weather. • Severe weather affecting only a limited number of commuters generally will not result in a campus closing. • Whether the campus is opened or closed, always use good judgment in determining whether to travel to campus as conditions will vary depending on the commute involved. Staff will be allowed to use accrued time accordingly and are reminded to follow their department’s normal attendance procedure for calling in late/absent.
