  1. The Video Conferencing Pilot.An Educational Project AIM: To raise the profile of Video Conferencing as a tool for teaching and learning and to create a Cornish Pool of expertise that can be used to support and train other schools for the future. OBJECTIVE 1 I can plan a transition project between primary and secondary schools using live satellite links and Video Conferencing to enhance teaching and learning and “enjoy and achieve”. Objective 2 I understand how to formulate a VC development plan and can justify its use to enhance teaching and learning.

  2. The Plan • Half day planning in schools for Lead teachers in project. Half day trialling activities with sample pupils. Dates to be given to LD by end of 6th June. • 6th and 7th June- Whole day planning between partner schools. Subsequent project. • June/September One day- visiting year 7 teachers to year 6/ year 6 teacher to year 7. Dates to LD. • 28th November - Review of Project, moderations and Development plans approved.

Objectives for the 6th June… • To understand how idea of AFL can be included in transition work • Can use ideas of active engagement techniques, literacy support, modelling and pupil assessment to enhance SOW. • Can use VC training and guide to assist in training of staff in schools. • Know the types of ideas that can be used for future development projects of VC.

Outcomes for the 6th June… • To complete Transition SOW that runs from Primary to secondary level and to give dates to LD to include half day planning and trialling with pupils. • To include pupil review and learning journal as part of assessment of teaching and learning • To plan questions to accompany VCs in schools • To complete first planning document of Development projects using information from today’s VCs

To include… • New Living and Working in Space • Annotate SOW to ensure inclusion of at least 1 active engagement technique per lesson and at least 3 literacy support resources across primary and secondary phase. Include AFL ideas as appropriate. Refer to toolkit. • Save final lesson at secondary phase to include VC link to primary school to showcase work of year 7s. • Learning journal • Pupil Review and results

  9. Time to plan. You have until 12pm to pull the ideas together to complete the transition SOW. Liaise with own phase schools Liaise with partner schools We will collect start and finish dates for transition project during this session.

The afternoon session… • 12.45 – 1.15pm Video Conference to National Archives • 1.30- 2.00pm Training and Trouble shooting with VC Equipment (PM) • Coffee break: 2.00 -2.15pm • 2.15-2.45pm List of questions for NSC and feedback sheet (LD) • 2.45 – 3.15pm Video Conference to Redruth School • 3.15 – 3.30pm Plenary, evaluations (LD)

  11. What next… • Questions for NSC • Development ideas for discussion tomorrow morning with dates. • Saving of SOW to include above onto memory stick. Ensure all work has school’s name on and use labels.

  13. Final reminders Ensure dates have been included for half day planning and Half day trialling of activities with pupils. Please ensure all copies of pupil feedback sheets are Forwarded to LD on completion. The Learning journal must be kept up to date to track pupil progress and changes due to lesson evaluation. SOWs must be saved on memory stick with NSC questions And development plans with school name. 28th November is the review date for the SOW and will be held at the Cpr Learning Space.

Agenda for 7th June • Objectives for the day: • I can develop my ideas for further VC work by sharing with other schools and consultants. • I know how to plan for progression in my SOW and formulate pupil friendly descriptors. • I can give ideas for pupil surveys on VC links • I understand how planning group work effectively can enhance teaching and learning.

Outcomes for the 7th June… • First stage of planning for development project completed. • Use of presentation and Level descriptors to complete agreed Pupil friendly levels for SOWs. • Completion of pupil survey questions to be done after VC links in schools. • Use of effective group work presentation and toolkit in planning cooperative group work.

Evaluation and Tracking of Impact • Pupil feedback on activities with teacher changes recorded. • Survey to accompany VC link in schools • Tracking of data and comparison of pupils on similar trajectory • Learning journal completed by pupils and teacher • Videoing of sample lessons including e-Mission or Living and working in Space.
