Maintenance and Accelerator Support

The maintenance schedule for RHIC Run 10 follows a similar outline to the last maintenance period. The RHIC tunnel will be accessible from 08:00 to 14:00 for equipment checkout, with beam operations anticipated to start as early as 16:00. Essential tasks include maintenance on the RHIC spin flipper, AC work in the tunnel, as well as polarimeter and water systems repairs at AGS. A scheduling meeting will occur at 15:30, highlighting the importance of attendance for all groups to ensure successful maintenance and operations. Various surveys and inspections are planned throughout the day.

  2. Tomorrow: • Similar schedule to last maintenance this time around • RHIC tunnel opened at 0800 and closed by 1400 for equipment checkout • RHIC beam as early as 1600

  3. Major jobs: • RHIC: • Spin flipper at 9 o’clock • AC work in tunnel, IRs • AGS: • Polarimeter C15 continued work • Siemens maintenance • Water systems repair • Booster • Supply work • Chiller tie in for new MCR

Schedule 0001hrs Polarized source off for cool down 0600hrs AGS CA LOTO Application LINAC off for cool down- Remove BNL 3 key from captive key tree at MCR2 0730hrs Begin RA LOTO for AGS 0800hrs APEX ends, ramp down RMMPS Experiments to XA Following I limit key removal (RMMPS I<500A): RCA for Surveys at beam dumps RA in select areas Access LINAC via plug door for survey 0930hrs Access AGS through South gate. Survey for specific jobs Dedicated HP for sextupole measurement 1200Hrs Secure restore LINAC Begin RHIC Sweeps Begin RF checkout (RF to RFNA meode) 1300hrs Secure AGS, remove LOTO 1400hrs RHIC tunnel Secure, RHIC ps checkout begins (return I LIM key) Restore AGS, Tandem and Booster 1500hrs Report from Exps and groups to determine IR 6&8 sweep time 1600hrs Sweep Experimenter IRs 1700hrs Begin setup for Physics in RHIC
