Maintenance and Accelerator Support

On January 16th, our maintenance and support teams achieved significant results in the RHIC recovery process, restoring Physics stores before 21:00 hours. We encountered minimal delays and only one short failure during recovery, which was efficiently managed by the CAS and MCR personnel. The polarized changeover included final checks for RHIC Snakes and rotators, along with various access updates for LINAC, Booster, AGS, and RHIC RF areas. Please remember our upcoming scheduling meeting on Friday at 15:00 hours.

  1. Maintenance and Accelerator Support Results From Jan 16th + Monday’s Work,

  2. NICE JOB! • Recovery of Physics stores before 2100hrs… • Few sweep delays • Few surprise jobs • Only 1 short failure during recovery • Excellent effort by CAS and MCR personnel

  3. Polarized changeover Monday: • RHIC Snakes and rotators- Final checkout • Polarity change for Q7’s • ZDC moves etc.

  4. Accelerator Access • LINAC TBD. • Booster- am RA Access. • AGS- RA ~0800-1500hrs, CA thereafter. • AGS Access earlier if APEX ends early for any reason. • RHIC Experimental and select areas on RA. • RHIC RF area on RA then IRIS Scan Access during setup. • Experiments and 12 o’clock IR on RA until ~1700.

Reminders: • Scheduling Meeting for Monday will be HERE AT 1500hrs this Friday • Approved jobs only-NO JOB TOO SMALL! • Tests must be completed before JOB CLOSOUT. • Affected groups must give input for job closeout statements. • Personnel availability until systems prove operational. • CLOSE OUTJOBS ON WEB.
