  2. Outages • 8/5 • Garnet IMAP outage 9 minutes • POP and local clients unaffected • 8/11 • Aquamarine 9:52-10:11am intermittent • Amethyst 9:18-10:37am intermittent • Existing connections unaffected

  3. E-mail Server Upgrades • New hardware on order • Replace remaining T2000s with T5240s • Greater CPU capacity, double the RAM

  4. Policy Changes • Autofile Sent Mail, Trash Monthly • Like INBOX, into folders in AutoFiled:2001.sent, 2002.sent, etc • Frees up space on fastest storage • More efficient incremental backups

  5. Policy Changes • Message size limit - 25MB vs 100MB • Same as Google Mail policy • Encourages use of NetFiles / Google Docs • Improves performance • Definition of 25MB

  6. Proposed Policy Changes • Autofiling Policies - 60 days vs 90 • Save space on fastest storage • Improves performance • Not changing at this time

  7. Procedure Changes • Outbound limit - 2000 recipients/day • Thwart phishers spamming from UMN • Reduce our chances of getting blocked • If over 2000, white listed or acct. closed (if sending spam) • Mail login limit - 500 times/day • Once per 3min = 480 times • Increase performance for well-behaved • If over 500, emailed suggesting fixes
