E-mail server outages • Intermittent problems continued with red cluster throughout August • Cluster de-configured by Sep 1st • Plan: re-build cluster on new hardware and simulate heavy load • Work with Sun to address QFS issues
UMCal Hardware Upgrade • Plan: upgrade DR server, switch over • Hardware upgraded to Sun V440 9/13 • Due to shared home FS, full testing was limited to off-hours • Unexpected write-protection forced SAN reconfiguration • Next step: DR server upgrade
Miscellaneous • Running near capacity on MX servers; will be reconfiguring servers to gain capacity • Decreased maximum per-host SMTP connection limit from 10 to 5 • Added a 3rd GopherMail server • Now monitoring IMAP response time • Upped max clients from 96 to 150 on www.umn.edu servers 8/22 • Migration to DataCenter network at WBOB
