Service Interruptions • Dovecot configuration issue 6/28 • Affected many, but not all, users on dovecot servers • Mail received between 10am and 1pm had delivery delayed until later that evening • No messages were lost
Upgrades in Progress • Incoming mail (MX) server hardware (3 Sun V210 to 3 Sun T1000s) • Both sets of servers now running in production • Old servers to be retired late July • Incoming mail (MX) server software (BT Mailhub to BT MMP) • This upgrade is now complete
Upgrades in Progress • New SATABeast storage array • For bulk storage of autofiled folders • Dovecot allows implementation transparent to users • Lyris servers to get additional storage later this month
Dovecot • 4/11: Approx. 20,000 users on Dovecot IMAP/POP service • 5/9: Approx. 55,000 users • 7/10: Approx. 128,000 users • 28,000 left to convert • Shared mailboxes in pilot
Shibboleth • Student Affairs using Shibboleth to get CAH for an outside vendor for career services • To get vendor support for CAH, try asking for Shib/SAML • Not specific to U; hundreds of sites can use it • Interoperable with Sun, MS ADFS ID management solutions (sometimes)
Bits ‘N’ Bytes • First servers cut over to require “M Key” two-factor auth yesterday • Welcome newest IS Group staffer Jeff Williams (formerly of Design College) • IS Group moving to 2829 University in August
