  1. Travis Music National Honor Society Introductory Meeting 10/22/2012

  2. What does MNHS do? • Give back to the community through volunteering • Promote unity between all 3 music classes • Encourage and reward musical learning and achievements

  3. Requirements for Joining • Enrolled in a PERFORMING music class : Orchestra, Band, or Choir (Music Theory, Piano, Music History does not count) • Must participate in EITHER Region try –outs or Solo & Ensemble competition (or the equivalent) - You do not have to place in region • Must maintain an 85 average and above in Music class and a 75 and above in other classes • Sophomores and up only

  4. How to Be Inducted as a Member • Fulfill 40 point requirement by the end of the year - for Seniors this year, 40 points is also the requirement to earn a graduation cord!

  5. How to Earn Points • Volunteering through music (tutoring at middle/high school, conducting sectionals, etc.) 1 Point per hour • Attending monthly MNHS meetings/MNHS socials 1 Point per meeting 2 Points per social • Attending music concerts of school performing ensembles (attending your own concert does not count) 3 points per concert • Placing in Region/Area/State competitions Region: 4 pointsArea: 8 pointsState: 12 points • Receiving score of “1” at Solo Ensemble Regionals: 3 pointsState: 7 points

  6. Upcoming Events • Orchestra Fall Concert : Thursday 10/25 @ 7:00 P.M. in the Auditorium

  7. Secretary Application • Application form can be found on our website • You must be committed to fulfilling the 40 point requirement and to attend all meetings • 2 teacher recommendations (one must be from your music director) • See officers after the meeting for details

  10. Deadlines • Officer AND member applications are due by Wednesday, OCTOBER 31st 2012 to either Mr. Renzenbrink or Mrs. Behrens. • Dues are $15 dollars for all new members and they are due at the same time as applications!
