  1. The Diary of Anne Frank Bellringer Instructions: Write the number of each bellringer as well as the date. Underneath, write the prompt projected on the screen. On the next line, write your response. Skip lines between bellringers.

  2. DAF Bellringer #1 • Write a paragraph recalling everything you remember about studying WWII, Nazi Germany, and/or the Holocaust. It could be specific people or events, details that stood out to you, or emotions you felt as you studied the time period.

  3. DAF Bellringer #2 • Do you feel that the United States had a responsibility to help the Jews during World War II? Does the U.S. still have a responsibility today to help other countries, people, etc.? Explain your thoughts.

  4. DAF Bellringer #3 • Which piece of propaganda from yesterday’s class stood out to you as the most atrocious? Why do you feel that way? Do your personal experiences have any determination in the way you think about discrimination?

  5. DAF Bellringer #4 • Copy and define the 22 vocabulary words starting on p. 734.

  6. DAF Bellringer #5 • Mr. Frank tells everyone the rules of their confinement--the steps they must take to achieve their goal, which is to remain undiscovered. What are these rules? Which rule would've been the most difficult for you to follow? Why?

  8. DAF Bellringer #7 • Suppose you were a German who was opposed to Hitler and the genocide of the Jewish people. Would you have risked your life to protect innocent Jews? Why or why not?
