  2. Prejudice:to pre-judge someone • Discrimination: to deny someone certain rights because of prejudice • Racism:hatred against someone or a group of people based on their difference in race

  3. Think of examples of prejudice, discrimination and racism. • Have you ever experienced any of these? Has anyone you know? • Share these with the class.

  4. Another example of prejudice and discrimination in called anti-semitism. • ‘anti’ means against and a semite is a jew. Therefore anti-semitism is racist and prejudiced and discriminatory. • Anne Frank was a jew and her book tells us of the Nazi anti-semitism policy in Europe during WWII.

  5. Another Theme to consider is ‘growing up’ • Anne didn’t get much of a chance to grow up, but she did spend some of her adolescence in the secret annexe. We get insights into this through her diary. Find examples of this in her diary.
