  2. Introduction • A “capo” bars the frets of a guitar shortening the length of the strings • “Quick Change” capo invented in 1981 by Milton Kyser • Kyser Musical Products produce over 100,000 capos a year • Worlds most popular capo

  3. Problems with Kyser Design • Different guitars have different sized necks • Capo pushes down on the strings -could damage neck -puts strings out of tune • Overpriced – around $20

  4. The spring lever is the main flaw in the Kyser “Quick Change” design.

  5. A redesigned adjustable spring would allow for for a more adaptable capo for different guitars. Less overall body size and different materials could reduce costs.
