  3. The People of Egypt • To the Egyptians their Pharaoh was a living image of a god. • So the Pharaoh was very important • Cleopatra • IIV • There were the very honored people. These were the Chief Minister, • the Monarchs and the Temple Priest. The Chief Minister was in charge • of taxes, overseeing of crops, irrigation and settling disputes. The • Monarchs were in charge of different regions in Egypt. And the Temple • Priests held religious ceremonies. • Then come the craftspeople, farmers and laborers. There were soldiers • and slaves also.

So they rarely relied on their husbands.
