  2. Generally • A questions – excellent focus on question and structure. More knowledge needed! Key parts of knowledge were missed out. • B questions – good structure within paragraphs, CR and OK, better themes needed!

To what extent was Hitler’s dictatorship in a state of chaotic plurocracy? • 3 themes identified – e.g. Hitler’s ruling style, Gauleiters, how far Nazis carried out Hitler’s will • Good similar and disagreeing CR, range of knowledge, good conclusion, Whelan excellent testing of sources and the correct interpretation • More detailed OK needed – e.g. The role of Goebbels. Take more time to identify three better themes rather than panic – e.g. Political structure, Jews and Hitler’s personality to enable a wider range of knowledge and better analysis to be used • Deborah – sources in intro and conclusions • Reginald – more disagreeing CR • Charis – follow point, similar CR, OK, disagreeing CR, analysis • Whelan – explain conclusion more

Identifying themes in b questions • Identify the themes you could use for these questions without the sources • To what extent did Germany plan WWI as part of a ‘long process’? • Deborah and Kausar – plans, circumstances, European relations • Reginald and Charis – Weltpolitik, international antagonism, German policies and plans • To what extent do you agree with the view that Hitler was a ‘non-interventionist dictator’? Source 4, line 32. • Deborah and Kausar – Jewish question, Hitler’s personality, government structure • Reginald and Charis – personality and work style, delegation of power, Jews • Read the sources – do they fit into your themes? Change any that may need changing – maximum of 1. • Write next to your themes what agreeing and disagreeing CR you’re going to use, OK to use and analysis of which interpretation is correct • Write a conclusion

To what extent was Wilhemine Germany politically and socially united? • Good knowledge about SPD, voting, aristocratic dominance, impact of WWI, silent dictatorship • Good essay writing, general focus on the question, analysis and conclusions • Good identification of three areas or themes and assessing throughout it how politically and socially united it was e.g. SPD, WWI, politics or • Wider range of knowledge needed – more revision and learning! • Welpolitik • Navy League • Daily Telegraph Affair • Opposition by the SPD to war budgets • Divisions during WWI • Herero uprising • Zabern affair • Focus on the question throughout • Explain political divisions more clearly Make two lists of explained points for both sides of the argument. Use the bullet points given first and then any other knowledge. Include as many points as you can.

How far do you agree that Hitler was in complete control of Germany by June 1934? • Good knowledge on propaganda, ToV, workers, SS • You need to learn key dates and chronology – it wants to write about June 1934 – when Hitler is made Fuhrer and Hindenburg has died. With this kind of question there are key points you must include. This being the death of Hindenburg, Night of the Long Knives, removing the left from the party, the Enabling Act and the Reichstag Fire. Focus on complete control or consolidation of power – don’t make it a general how did the Nazis come to power essay. • Using Ben Walsh write down key points and dates for these events • Nazis rising to power • Nazis taking power when Hitler becomes Chancellor • Nazis consolidating power (which is Hitler going from Chancellor to dictator) • Replan essay

Revision – Wilhemine Germany Aim – to explain the key events and apply this to exam questions • Test each other on your cards • Read the essay question, identify three themes, sort the cards into the three themes • To what extent did Wilhemine Germany have strong democratic elements? • To what extent was Wilhemine Germany socially and politically united? • To what extent was the Kaiser an autocratic dictator in Wilhemine Germany? • To what extent did WWI irrecoverably polarise Wilhemine politics and society?

  8. Homework – Due Monday • Improve mock • Answer one of these essay questions in timed conditions. • Carry on revising – learning facts and completing other essay plans and essays. Whelan and Deborah write essays for Africa.
