Help from OSU Comments • Field Trips, Projects, Guest Speakers, Guidance, Mentoring of Students and Teachers, Videos • Integration of technology into curriculum • Offer tuition paid classes • Open course offerings to curriculum areas other than math- for example business/tech teachers AND remove prerequisite requirements to take technology classes • Technology Training for Teachers • We need teachers- not enough money for teachers to go into public schools

Survey Conclusions • There seem to be an adequate number of computers but maintaining equipment is a problem • Business driving curriculum as companies with forward looking management teams are assisting schools in delivering instruction • Most of the coursework students are doing is at the Category 2 level. There are a lot of students enrolled

  25. Survey Conclusions • Math requirements are in place for AP classes but other classes have few math prerequisites • Difficulty for schools to keep teachers up to date and hire competent teachers • While curriculum is in place not very many students are leaving courses certified

Recommendations • Develop long term relationships- post survey • Develop summer workshops in concert with industry for teachers and/or students for Midwest region • Wright State offers NEAS+ National Engineering Search+ assessment • University of Dayton offers “Women in Engineering Summer Camp • Baldwin-Wallace offers Biotechnology summer workshop • University of Akron offers a 3 week workshop in Science and Engineering

Recommendations • Develop a competition for high school students • Work with a broad based group for a definable teacher certification • Work with broad based group to develop standards for information technology education • Work with both type of programs • Although Ohio State is involved in developing college prep should also assist in developing career education
