  3. WHAT CAUSES CONFLICT • Working in Teams • Diversity • Differing Opinions • Pride and Ego’s • Inexperience

  4. WHY DO WE GET SO WRAPPED UP IN IT? • Two things in life that people hate: • Change • Difference • Any time change is implemented in an organization conflict will arise

  5. IS CONFLICT ALWAYS BAD? • NO • Different perspectives are often necessary for breakthrough thinking • Can be valuable • Can be a source of energy

  6. DEALING WITH CONFLICT • Conflict is a result of real differences • A persons views and habits in handling conflict are important determinants of the outcomes of a conflict • Mastering skills in managing conflict comes with a lot of practice

  7. DEALING WITH CONFLICT • Know your people • Listen • Check your ego at the door • Keep the overall goal in mind • Be open to suggestion and change • Encourage your group to be open to new ideas
