  2. June 2016 LCCU MeetingPhoto Library vs. Photo Gallery • Photo Library - contains all files stored in or under the My Pictures or Public Pictures folders. You can add other folders or devices to that library. • Photo Gallery - contains files stored in or under the My Pictures or Public Pictures folders with extensions .jpg, .tif, .ixr, .png, .wdp, .bmp, or .ico. You can include other folders and locations.

June 2016 LCCU MeetingChrome - Group Policy Client svc • Chrome message: Group Policy Client services login failed, and browser takes 5 minutes to start. • Group policy client problems in Google Chrome Help forum: • delete cache & cookies – Click Menu, More Tools, Clear browsing data • try incognito mode – Menu, New incognito window • disable extensions – Menu, More Tools, Extensions • reset browser settings – Click Menu, Settings, Show Advanced settings, Reset Settings, Reset.

June 2016 LCCU MeetingHow to Prepare for Windows 10 • Clean and update • Uninstall unneeded programs, plus Oracle’s Java and Apple Quicktime. • Run windows update. • Run CCleaner. • Uninstall 3rd party antivirus program, unless the company tells you not to. • Collect your Product keys and passwords • Using Belarc Advisor or NirSoft’s ProduKey

Note - Easeus System Goback Free is specifically designed to do system image before Win 10 upgrade. Be sure to make the boot disc before you upgrade.

May 2016 LCCU MeetingGoing back to Windows 7/8.1 • Before 30 days is up – go to Start>Settings> Update & Security, under “Go back to Windows 7/8.1, click “Get started”. • After 30 days, use system image backup made just before upgrading to Windows 10 or… • Use Easeus System Goback Free to make backup before upgrading and if needed, to restore, but be sure to copy the .iso file to make the boot disc before you upgrade.

May 2016 LCCU MeetingHow to fix slow internet browsing • Some possible causes & diagnostics • Slow internet speed – check using www.speedtest.net • Browser add-ons – try running without add-ons. • Lots of browser tabs open – open fewer. • Too many startup programs accessing the internet in background – use Ccleaner or msconfig to turn off. • Web page errors – try a different browser. • Malware and viruses – run Malwarebytes, etc. • Autoplaying HTML5 videos.

Also try using an ethernet cable. • Not turning off the computer daily to free memory. • Too little free space on disk drive, need room for paging, hibernation files – Windirstat analyzes files. • Dusty computer, leading to overheating – monitor temperature or control fans with Speedfan .

Or Menu button>Add-ons> extensions and set each to “Never activate”. • Chrome – Menu>More tools>Extensions. Disable each of them.

When finished debugging, click “Enable all”, then disable any you don’t use. • Or run CCcleaner and under Tools, Startup tab, select startup program and click “Disable”.

Double-click “Media.autoplay.enabled” and the preference will change from True to False. • In Chrome – add “Disable HTML5 Autoplay” extension.
