This pilot project from April to July 2013 in Bath and North East Somerset successfully connected male volunteers with Early Years settings, providing reading role models for boys. The initiative has shown promising results, with volunteers engaging children who previously showed little interest in books. Feedback from the boys has been enthusiastic, highlighting the positive impact on their reading experiences. The project has confirmed the importance of male role models in fostering a love for reading, making it a worthwhile endeavor for both children and volunteers.

From the Al It’s going really well. Our volunteer has been coming in every week. We have a few boys who weren't really interested in looking at books and they are loving working with him. They say “Yeah- He’s here!” It seems to be making a vast difference already.. All The story so far? It seems to be having a really positive impact on the children.
