  1. Undulator Week Issues C.E. Rago System Integration

  2. Integration Issues • SLAC Earthquake Updates: • Written Report under review prior to SLAC-EC presentation. • DeBarger / Dormiani • Difficulties • SLAC Procedural Adjustments / Pending Upgrades • Design Style, Complete & Integrated Procedures • Uniformity / Efficiency of Installation

  3. Summary • Magnet, Girder, Pedestal System is in compliance with current SLAC Earthquake standards in regards to preservation of functionality. • SLAC-1-720-0A24E-002 with slight modifications • 1997 Uniform Building Code • Caveats: • Formal Earthquake Committee Approval • Installation procedures must support the current ANL design and all manufacturer installation procedures. • Earthquake preloads must be applied, equal to and or greater than the ANL design. • ANL to load tests to failure are run on positioning slides. • Hard Shims, between pedestal and concrete, needs to be analyzed.

  4. Pre-Loads/ Stresses • Foot Plate Connection 1300 in-lbs • Support Plate to Transition 380 in-lbs • Transition Plate to Slide 330 in-lbs • Slide to Girder 300 in-lbs • Girder to Interface 70% Yield

  5. Slide Test • No manufacturing data available on seismic and or similar loads. • M/Mp = 81% (Seismic M / Static Mp) • Mp is about the ‘Z’ axis.

  6. Hard Shims • Current Assumption: • There is no stand-off between anchor plate and the concrete floor. • ANL design • Shims at 6/6 anchors • Grouted Base Plate • Sand filled Pedestal

  7. Concrete Anchors • Assumed Hilti HIT-RE-500-SD Adhesive Anchors. • Current calculation was simplified to use only 4 “outer’ anchors. • Must calculate the effect of 6 anchors per pedestal.

  8. Integration Issues • Integrated Assembly Procedure • Zurawel to Lundahl to Poling • Start from existing ANL procedures. • Zurawel is expanding to cover all field tasks. • Lundahl coordinating alignment. • Metrology dominates assembly-LeCocq & Wolf • Poling will control vacuum, handling, and anything else we need.
