This narrative explores the surreal experiences of a young man navigating New York City, drawing comparisons between his brother, a Hollywood actor, and the realities of street life. From staying in a disreputable hotel filled with phonies to encountering nuns seeking money, the observations reveal a deeper critique of society. Key moments include arriving at Penn Central Station, a night at Ernie's Bar, and contemplations by the Lagoon in Central Park. Through these encounters, we see the struggle for authenticity amidst a world of pretenders.

The Prostitute • My brother D.B., an actor in Hollywood. He is just like a prostitute on the streets of New York.
The Hotel • This is the Edmont Hotel where I stayed after arriving in New York. It was filled with a bunch of perverts, Phonies, and crumbs.
My expulsion from Pencey • This is the pin I got from the school I went to before I got kicked out. What a phony school.
The Train Station • This is the train station I arrived at after leaving Pencey and arriving to New York. Penn Central what a junk place to arrive in.
The Nun’s • These are the nuns that talked to me while I was waiting for old Maurice. They kept bugging me for money but I didn’t care I had a lot of money.
Ernie’s Bar • This is Ernie’s, the place where they questioned my age when I ordered a drink. The place was full of jerks and a bunch of ivy league bastards.
The Lagoon in Central Park • This is the lagoon in central park. I asked my cab driver about the fish and ducks in the pool and about where they all go in winter. He was very impatient with me and yelled, but he’s still a good guy.
Phoebe’s Sailboat • This is my sisters Phoebes sailboat, she took it with us when me and Allie took her to the park and played with it while me and Allie talked .
