2. CHARTER • The SRTC awards subcommittee shall establish and administer award programs in the solid rocket propulsion field to acknowledge major technical, academic, and professional contributions in this area, as required. • This subcommittee shall also participate in the selection of the AIAA Wyld Propulsion Award recipient, on a yearly basis, as well as respond to requests for AIAA awards as requested. • This subcommittee shall also implement an AIAA SRTC "Best Paper" Awards Program and a student scholarship program awarded on merit and involvement in the field of solid rocket propulsion

3. Honors and Awards Goals • Recognizing outstanding achievement is one of the primary responsibilities of the Institute • Recognizing the Very Best in Our Industry • Recognize students at all levels • College, high school, middle school, and related aerospace clubs and academies • Look to your local section to help • Recognition of your profession and your peers cannot happen without YOU!

7. SRTC Participation in Award Selection Committees • The Wyld Propulsion Award • The Propulsion Award and the James H. Wyld Memorial Award honoring the developer of the regeneratively-cooled rocket engine were combined in 1964 to become the James H. Wyld Propulsion Award. In 1975, the name was again modified to the Wyld Propulsion Award, which is now presented for outstanding achievement in the development or application of rocket propulsion systems. • The Propellants and Combustion Award • Presented for outstanding technical contributions to aeronautical or astronautical combustion engineering. Most recent recipients include R. Ellis, V. Yang, E. Oran, H. Krier, …

Black) • Mr. Bryan Palazewski is this years chair (Nuclear & Future Flight Propulsion TC) • Received nomination packages in the mail in Dec, 2011 • No new nominations this year • A waiver obtained to enable selection process without minimum of 2 new nomination requirement • Waiting on Wyld Award chairman for first meeting • Schedule – TBD • Propellants and Combustion Award (Supported by ???) • Need a volunteer to help support this activity • Hansen has supported the last two years • No correspondence regarding this committee yet • Schedule - TBD
