  2. What is an MRI? • A machine that that uses an incredibly powerful magnet for scans • Several important parts (super conducting magnet, RF coils, and gradient coils) • What do each of these do?

  3. Common Uses • Brain • Neck • Heart • Chest • Abdomen • ect

  4. Problems with MRI • Duration of exam • Noise from machine • Inability for people with metal implants to use scan • Smallness of machine (diameter of machine) • Ability of patients getting claustrophobia

  5. Corrections • New ability for those with metal implants to use machine • Glass siding for machine (reduce risk of claustrophobia) • New ability of taking exam 7 times faster than before

  6. Conclusion • Produces clearest exam results • Still in infancy (more improvements can occur)
