  8. Nelson Mandela freed from South African Prison • In 1961, he was arrested for treason, and although acquitted he was arrested again in 1962 for illegally leaving the country. In 1964, he was convicted along with several other ANC leaders and sentenced to life in prison. In 1989, F.W. de Klerk became South African president.DeKlerk lifted the ban on the ANC, suspended executions, and in February 1990 ordered the release of Nelson Mandela.

  16. Cruise Ship capsizes off coast of Italy The captain of a capsized cruise liner sailed the ship close to the shores of Giglio, Italian newspaper Corrieredella Sera reported Monday. Witnesses said that the disaster may have been caused by a close-passing of the island of Giglio in a salute to the local population. 29 People were declared missing and presumed to be dead.

  24. 1st baseball game in Space takes place • The first ever sporting event took place on the moon in 2034. The game was between the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Texans. The Red Sox won 20-18. The score was very high due to the lightness of the ball. The Moon Dome had a full capacity of 200, 000 fans.
