What is Human Resource Management (HRM)? • Utilizing & developing people within a business to meet organizational objectives • Human resource planning • Recruitment, selection & induction of new employees • Training & development of staff • Performance management & appraisals • Promotion & relocation of staff • Reviewing & remuneration of staff • Disciplinary & grievance procedures • Looking after the welfare of employees

Consequences of Ineffective HRM(The 5 Rs) • Recruitment – higher recruitment, induction & training costs • Resources – increasing amount of management resources & time spend dealing with problems • Reservations – low morale and high uncertainty • Returns – low levels of productivity, competitiveness • Reputation – poor corporate image Unable to Achieve Objectives
