  1. Warm-up • Plants are sprawled out across the forest. Running up the trees are squirrels. • Name the processes that both these organisms go through. Compare and contrast these two processes.

  2. Warm-up • What does a plant need in order to grow? • What organelle do plants use to make glucose? • What type of cells have mitochondria? • What do mitochondria break glucose into?

  4. DO NOT COPY Photosynthesis – when plants make glucose using sun, water, and Carbon Dioxide aka CO2 Cellular Respiration – when plants and animals break down glucose into water, carbon dioxide and energy.

  11. Relationship to Glucose • In cellular respiration glucose is BROKEN • In photosynthesis glucose is MADE

  12. Location Cellular respiration occurs in the mitochondria. Mitochondria is found in both plant and animal cells. Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast. Chloroplast is only found in plant cells.
