  2. While serving as President Washington’s Secretary of State, Thomas Jefferson had many disagreements with the President. Eventually these disagreements led to him resigning from the position. After Washington’s death, he wrote a long letter praising the late President. Why do you think Jefferson was so positive about Washington even though they’d had a falling out? Do you think you could ever feel the same way about a former friend if you were in a similar situation? Why or why not? Think and discuss
