  1. Normal Distribution 9.4.1.1 Describe a data set using data displays, such as box-and-whisker plots; describe and compare data sets using summary statistics, including measures of center, location and spread. Measures of center and location include mean, median, quartile and percentile. Measures of spread include standard deviation, range and inter-quartile range. Know how to use calculators, spreadsheets or other technology to display data and calculate summary statistics.

  2. Guiding Question: How does data spread out? • Lesson Obj.: I will be able to calculate using the normal distribution of data.

  3. Guiding Question: How does data spread out?

  4. Guiding Question: How does data spread out? • How much data is within 1 standard deviation? 2? 3?

  5. Guiding Question: How does data spread out? The SAT is measured “normally” with a mean of 500 and a standard deviation of 100. What % of scores are between 300 and 700? What is the probability you score less than 700? What is the probability of getting less than 300 or greater than 600?

  6. Guiding Question: How does data spread out? • Assignment: PG 847 1-8 all
