  4. Word Choice • Careful word choice • Punctuation, paragraphs • The teacher looked at the student. • The teacher glared at the student.

  5. The teacher smiled at the student. • The teacher scowled at the student. • The teacher smirked at the student.

  7. Dialogue Activity #1 • Pick two students in the class (or two of your friends). • Write a dialogue between them. • One is trying to buy something from the other (decide what it is) • They cannot agree on an acceptable price.

  8. Voice Practice • Now, write another dialogue between two people with the same situation. • A. A priest/minister and one of the characters from Jersey Shore • B. A recently released African-American prisoner and a white, suburban mother of four • C. Mr. McGowan and a California surfer dude • D. Others??
