  23. The Protestant Reformation • Angered by the sale of indulgences, Martin Luther will write the 95 Theses. • Luther rejected the authority of Rome. • He will start a revolt against the Church My salvation was possible through faith alone led me to challenge the church.

  24. The Protestant Reformation • John Calvin will be another reformer. • He preached the idea of predestination, the idea that God had determined who would gain salvation. • Calvinist believed the world only had saints and sinners.

  25. The English Reformation • The break with the Catholic Church in England is caused by Henry VIII. • The Pope refused to annul the marriage so Henry splits from the Church and forms the Church of England.
