What do we mean by useful? • From academic perspective: • Does the theory have internal validity ( has it demonstrated link between cause and effect(IV and DV) • Does the theory have external validity ( can it apply to different populations - white collar/blue collar? • Is the theory falsifiable/testable? • Is it parsimonious ( simplest possible explanation)? • From academic and practitioner perspective: • Is it of any use to predict and explain behaviour at the workplace?
