  3. Version 3.7 Changes • remove EXT sextupoles • remove FF octupoles and decapoles • 2 new IDX skew quadrupoles in EXT for vertical dispersion correction (Okugi-san’s locations) • final magnet designs selected; use correct effective lengths, bores, gaps, etc. • all diagnostic and correction devices (that I know of) now in MAD decks • more QBPMs added in EXT … total for ATF2 is now 34 • “standard” installation for all BPMs is on downstream end of magnet … as discussed and agreed at the SLAC-ATF2 meeting last March (there are some exceptions) • nomenclature for FF devices updated • “FF” appended to device names • as Kuroda-san suggested, “QD10” quads become “QD10BFF” and “QD10AFF” (also “QF9”, “QF5”, and “QD4”) • “QD2B” (a QF) and “QF3” (a QD) become “QF3FF” and “QD2BFF” respectively July 18,2007

  15. Pulse-to-Pulse Feedback • stabilize beam into Final Focus (especially at sextupoles) • 2 dipole correctors per plane (Final Doublet phase and IP phase) • 2 BPMs per plane (Final Doublet phase and IP phase) • correctors and BPMs should be as far downstream as possible • feedback BPMs should have no dispersion • cavity BPMs used for feedback must have movers • BPMs must have resolution ≤ spot size for sub-σ stabilization • requires sub-micron resolution for vertical BPM at IP phase • move nanoBPM setup to selected location (between QM14FF and QM13FF … it’s a tight fit) and use nBPM3 for feedback … or … • could we use the IPBPM test setup here instead? • use a stripline BPM for horizontal BPM at IP phase July 18,2007

  18. Version 3.7 Parts List Issues • 2 new IDX skew quadrupoles (QS1X and QS2X) • 2 new 20 amp bipolar power supplies (QK1X and QK4X) • 4 new NKK CH horizontal dipole correctors (with 5(?) amp bipolar power supplies) • 2 new NKK CV vertical dipole correctors (with 5(?) amp bipolar power supplies) • QD14X running at 97% of max power supply current (see parts list … ) • FF matching quadrupoles (QM16FF – QM11FF): bipolar power supplies? • power supply for BDMP • Alexander Kalinin’s Feedforward/Feedback devices for EXT have not yet been incorporated into the MAD decks … should they be? can they coexist with FONT? • off-beamline components (detectors, gamma collimators, MONALISA, etc.) not included • also see comments and notes on each worksheet of the parts list … July 18,2007

  19. Version 3.7 Optics and Simulation Issues • OTR1X … interference with DR quadrupole QM8R.1? • nanoBPM setup … does it fit between QM14FF and QM13FF? (if not, move QM14FF upstream); can we use it for pulse-to-pulse feedback? • should there be a location reserved for ODR? • FONT kickers are not in the deck yet … need a design (30 cm striplines? FEATHER kickers? • Kalinin’s feedforward/feedback devices? • possible reduced (20-25%) gradient for extracted beam in QM7R.1: can’t match in EXT using only quadrupole strengths … change DR optics to compensate? • simulations with estimated multipole content of SLAC epoxy kickers, QM7R.1, BS1X, and shimmed QC3s • need “small spot” optics for LW1X (1 µm) operation • need to redo and expand full tuning simulations • MPS issues for commissioning?
