  3. Our Expectations • High standards for everyone • Commitment to Academic Success • Commitment to Wider Community • To Act as a Positive Role Model • Commitment to Extra Curricular / Enrichment

  4. High Expectations "If you set your goals ridiculously high and it's a failure, you will fail above everyone else's success.” Don’t accept just enough

  5. Sixth Form Contract • All Year 12 students have signed the Code of Conduct. • It should form the basis of how they approach school and their studies. • A copy on your seat to take home

  6. Possibly priorities this year Build strong foundations in their subjects Develop as an independent learner Build their intellectual curiosity Try new things Become a school leader Enjoy their learning!!!!

  7. A Level Reforms • AS & A Level now 2 separate qualifications. • AS Marks DO NOT count towards full A Level in reformed subjects

  8. A Level Reforms • Majority of Students enrolled on a 2 yr course • Underperforming students or those who have just met the entry criteria may be entered for As • All Other will sit Internal PPE exams • These grades will determine entry into Year 13 and inform UCAS predictions.

  10. Interim Monitoring • Review your own progress with your tutor 4 times per year- Academic Tutoring • Find out how many more marks you needed to achieve the next grade up • Practice how to get there!

  12. Target Setting • For exam grade targets we use ALPS (A-Level Performance System) • For each course, students are given a Estimated grade based on their GCSE results • Aspirational but realistic

  13. Academic Passport • All places are on a probationary basis. • A way of monitoring your suitability for each of the chosen courses. • A way of monitoring how well the students have adapted to Sixth Form life.

  14. Academic Passport • Helps focus new Year 12 students. • Gives students the best chance of success. • Helps ensure students are on correct courses (avoids wasted year & poor results). • Gives early opportunity for intervention if problems arise.

  16. Get Organised • Attendance • Punctuality • A Year Plan with key dates • Awareness of pressure points • Plan your work load & week • Limit hours of paid work • Show my homework

  17. How to use their Time Well • Have organised Folder! • Make the best use of Study Periods • Feed their passion for their subjects • Go beyond the expected • Wider reading is invaluable • Search out Enrichment
