  2. Primary Color • A set of primary colors is a set of real colorants or colored lights that can be combined in varying amounts to produce a gamut of colors. This is the essential method used in applications that are intended to elicit the perception of diverse color, e.g. electronic display, color printing and paintings. Perception associated with a given combination of primary colors are predicted by applying the appropriate missing model that embodies the underlying physics of how light interacts with the media.

  3. Secondary Color • A secondary color is made by mixing two primary colors in a given color space.

  4. Complementary Color • Complementary colors are a pair of colors combined or mixed by producing a grayscale color like white or black.

  5. Split Complementary • The split complementary color scheme is a variation of the complementary color scheme. It uses two colors to its complement.

  6. Triad • A triad color scheme uses colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel.

  7. Monochromatic • Monochromatic color schemes are delivered from a single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints. • Tints are achieved by adding white and shades. • Tones are achieved by adding a darker color like grey or black.

  8. Analogous • Analogous colors are a group of three colors that are next to each other on the color wheel, sharing a common color, with one being the dominant color which tends to be a primary or secondary color.

  9. Achromatic • Achromatic means without color. Only white, grey and black.

  10. Square Color Scheme • A square color scheme uses colors that are spaced around the color wheel.
