  3. October 14, 2008 R-8 school district to require employees to cover tattoos Joplin R-8 Board of Education members Tuesday night gave administrators the OK to change wording in the district’s employment policy to not allow any part of a tattoo to show. The board also wants to make that policy apply to all district employees, not just teachers.

  4. So… What are typical policies in Health Care? • My hospital system has this policy: All tattoos must be covered, either by clothing appropriate for the specific job, or by make-up that is appropriate for the workplace, while on the clock. Any hair that is artifically colored must be one that is naturally occuring (no neon purple, acid green, shocking blue, etc), or a surgical hat is to be worn during the duration of the color, and any facial/mouth/tongue piercings must be removed while on the clock. Most of my coworkers have some kind of tattoo, be it a small ankle one or a tramp stamp, but it's covered when they have on hospital scrubs. We are also not to wear fragrances and we are to try and use unscented hairspray, lotion, etc while at work
