Egypt • Egypt is located in North Africa • It borders the Mediterranean sea to the north • Libya is to the west • Sudan is to the south • Saudi Arabia, across the Gulf of Aqaba to the East • Egypt has an area of 1,001,450 square kilometers (386,659 square miles) • Egypt has a coastline of 2,450 kilometers (1,522 miles) • Egypt’s capital is Cairo, located to the north

More info about Egypt • Egypt's population is about 80 million people. • It has the largest population in the Middle East and is the third-largest in Africa • almost twice the size of France • twelfth largest country in Africa • The major religion is Islam • 95% of Egypt's population live in the Nile valley & the Nile Delta • The people speak Arabic (official), English, French • There’s a Libyan Desert and an Arabian Desert Egypt’s flag--------->

Hosni Mubarak (President that has been overthrown) • 83 year old Egyptian man and suffering from stomach cancer • born in May 4, 1928 • Religion: Islam • served as a vice president of Egypt but became Egypt’s fourth president after Anwar El-Sadat was assassinated during a parade in Cairo in 1981. • dictator of Egypt for 30 years • On 2/11/11 he resigned as president • On 8/3/11, He & his 2 sons,Alaa and Gamal went on trial for charges of corruption & ordering the killing of protesters during the uprising that altered Egypt's political landscape • If he’s convicted he may die

  6. How is Egypt's Revolution similar to the American Revolution? One similarity from the American Revolution and the Egyptian Revolution is that the people fought for their rights. Both revolutions were led by the common people. That lived there. Both of the rulers refused to obey the law. The people rebelled against their corrupted government. The revolutions Inspired revolutions in other countries like France, Mexico,Bahrain, Syria, Yemen, etc.

  7. How is Egypt's Revolution different to the American Revolution? One difference from the Egyptian revolution and the American revolution is that they happened during different times. During the American revolution, one person started revolting then many people followed while in the Egyptian revolution, many people started revolting on social networks like facebook and twitter. Both Revolutions obviously had different leaders and race. The American revolution took 7 years while the Egyptian revolution lasted for 18 days. The Americans wanted independence from Britain. The Egyptians pretty much wanted to get rid of there dictator and to change how things were so less people would suffer.

  8. Where I think Egypt is going… I think that Egypt will become a prosperous country that will grow after making a new constitution that everyone will abide by. Egypt’s military will have less power. Egypt will probably go from a dictatorship to a democracy.
