  10. Blue Badge Scheme • Parking concessions • UK-wide • On-street parking only • Allows up to 3hrs parking on single/double lines • England & Wales (no time limit in Scotland) • Free parking for metered areas (unless stated)

Variations in Wales, Scotland, NI • Blue Badge parking map • Exempt from London congestion charge (£10 one-off reg fee) • Apply for toll exemption • Reciprocal arrangements with some European countries • IAM motoring trust / AA downloadable leaflet

Eligibilty for Blue Badge • Automatically eligible if >2yrs old and either: • Receive higher rate mobility component of DLA (>12mo) • Registered blind • Receive War Pensioner’s mobility supplement • Need further assessment (by local council) • >2yrs old • Permanent / substantial disability affecting walking • Severe disability in both arms affecting ability to use parking meter • Special rules < 2yrs old with special medical conditions • Parents of child who must always be accompanied by bulky medical equipment • Parents of a child who needs to be a near a vehicle at all times
