  3. On the 25 April Australians and New Zealanders celebrate the first major war fought by Australian and New Zealanders at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War 1. • It was officially named ANZAC day in 1916. Overall there was 44,043 estimated soldiers killed in the battle of Gallipoli.
