ANZAC Day. When Was World War 1?. World War 1 started in October 1914 with England fighting Turkey, but the Australian and New Zealand troops or ANZACS came to help out on April 25th 1915. The ANZACS landed on the Gallipoli peninsula at dawn at around about 4:30 am on April the 25th 1915.

  2. When Was World War 1? World War 1 started in October 1914 with England fighting Turkey, but the Australian and New Zealand troops or ANZACS came to help out on April 25th 1915. The ANZACS landed on the Gallipoli peninsula at dawn at around about 4:30 am on April the 25th 1915.

  3. Why Did World War 1 Begin World War 1 began because Archduke Franz Ferdinand the Austrian leader was assassinated. Which Side Did Australia Take During The War And Why? During World War 1 Australia went to Turkey to support the Allies because Australia werein the British Empire in 1915.

  4. Where Is Gallipoli? Gallipoli is on the North East Coast of Turkey in the middle of the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea.

  5. Why Was Gallipoli Important To The Allies During The War? During World War 1 Gallipoli was important to the Allies because it took some stress off of the French in France. Why Is This Place Important In Australian History? Gallipoli is important in Australian history because many people died and it is very important to remember them.

  6. What Does ANZAC Mean? ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corps Therefore They were all Australians or New Zealanders.

  7. Why Do We Commemorate ANZAC Day? ANZAC Day is commemorated on the 25th of April because on this day in 1915 the ANZACS landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula to face the Turks in World War 1.

If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields Poppies On ANZAC Day On ANZAC Day a poppy is worn to remember all of the men who fought and died in the war and also how tough the were as they were the first flowers to grow after the war.

  10. The Ode Last Post They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them The Last Post is a bugle song that is played at all ANZAC Day ceremonies and was played at the end of every day in World War 1.

  11. My Thoughts. On ANZAC Day I usually go to a service in the morning. This year I lay a wreath with Lily in Camperdown. I believe that ANZAC Day is vey important because it helps people to remember all of our diggers that served for our country.
